This isn't really a Follow Friday post, but I wanted to help spread the word about several bridge-related events coming up in the area.
Read MoreI know, I know...haven't we already seen a post just like this? In a word? Yup. It's just that Crescent City is so pretty. As I mentioned in my last post, I took another trip up north and when the sun came out, so did the cameras.
Read MoreI've got another bridge to share from our trip back East. If you're looking for the quintessential Vermont covered bridge experience, this is the structure for you.
Read MoreStarting today, Build a Bridge is officially becoming a regular series around here. If you're just joining this little party, please see my first Build a Bridge post here. I thought I'd follow that up with another structure you'll find along the Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts: The French King Bridge.
Read MoreI came across this article yesterday, which labeled Everplaces as "a new app that essentially functions as a Pinterest for the real world." Of course I had to check it out. So far, I'm pretty impressed. My first thought was that this could replace all check-in apps, review apps, my Pinterest travel board, etc., but I don't think Everplaces is quite there. YET.
Read MoreI'd just like to give a little shout out to the rain. We've missed it here in the Sacramento area for most of the winter. This recent storm (if you want to call it that) has made our garden look so much greener and we're pretty stoked about it.
Read MoreMy friends and I had big plans for a day trip to Muir Woods to hike part of the Dipsea Trail last weekend. Well, that didn't happen. April, Jenna and I had a nice leisurely breakfast at Parkside Cafe in Stinson Beach (which was great, by the way) and ended up getting a pretty late start. The parking lots at Muir Woods were completely packed.
Read MoreIt's no secret that I'm a bridge nerd. I just love 'em. I can't help it. They're works of art, in my mind, and so darn functional. So, when we headed to Massachusetts last May, I knew that I'd get my fix. I took my husband on a bridge hunt and we were lucky to find some really beautiful structures to gaze upon. Okay...I gazed. My husband just enabled my obsession.
Read MoreA few weekends ago, I went for a drive around Lake Berryessa and the surrounding area. Determined to practice using my camera somewhere other than our backyard, not even a hazy sky could stop me.
Read MoreYeah, that's right. I put social media and kitchen lighting in the same post title. Why, you ask? Well, a few weeks ago I threw out a post on both Facebook and Twitter asking people if they had any recommendations for electricians who could help us out on our small kitchen lighting project.
Read MoreThis is the one where all I want to do is write about learning how to use my new camera, but I have to ask some tough questions about photography. More on that in a bit, though. We'll start with the fun stuff. I upgraded my camera over the weekend. I had been using a very compact point and shoot camera that works perfectly fine, but I wanted something with a few more options.
Read MoreAdmittedly, things were a little quiet on the blog front last week. We decided last Tuesday that it was time for a yard sale...and that we were going to have it on Saturday. So, within just a few days we cleaned out closets, drawers and boxes in the garage in an effort to cut out the excess.
Read MoreIt's true. I love appreciating it, having it in my home and just being around it. The Sacramento region is full of talented people and I truly enjoy being a part of a community that supports the arts.
Read MoreEvery time we go on trips to places like Yosemite, Yellowstone or the The Tetons, I always find myself wanting more. We have pictures from our trips to remind us just how lucky we are to have experienced such beautiful places and they always, ALWAYS make me want to return. Then I come across Project Yosemite. These guys have created one of the most amazing time-lapse videos of Yosemite. In under four minutes, their video actually made me want to move there.
